The Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Orléans graciously provided information for completing this description.

This painting was acquired by the museum in 1841 as by JDA. It was later attributed to David Teniers the Elder. During a restauration in 1958, the signature of Joris van der Hagen was discovered and the painting reattributed to him.
